William Least-Heat Moon, author of Blue Highways, used that term to describe the minor roads printed in blue ink on the old maps — most of which, paved in asphalt, appear blue in the distance. My husband and I decided to drive all the highways — blue and otherwise — of Oklahoma and began highlighting the roads traveled on our state map. Our hope is that you will also be inspired to discover some of these lesser roads and undiscovered byways.
